Archibald Candy is $250 million manufacturer of premier chocolate candies. They have three business units: Fannie May, Sweet Factory, and Laura Secord. Laura Secord is a Canadian manufacturer of chocolate candies. Sweet Factory is a retailer of hard candies. Each of these three business units have about 250 stores. So, Archibald Candy encompasses about 750 retail stores in America and Canada.

They needed $20 milion in working capital in order to stay in business and avoid bankruptcy.

We designed and programmed a new financial planning and budgeting system and worked with the officers and managers to develop a new financial plan.

This financial plan was used to obtain the $20 million needed for Archibald Candy to continue as a going concern.

Three years later, Fannie May Chocolate Candy was sold to Alpine Confections for $87 million who in turn sold it to 1-800-Flowers.

Crisis & Challenge: Archibald Candy needed $20 million in working capital to avoid bankruptcy and closing.

	Designed and programmed a Three Year Strategic Planning model using Excel and Visual Basic.
	Designed and programmed Financial Planning and Budgeting system by business unit using Excel and Visual Basic.
	Worked with corporate officers and directors in developing Financial and Strategic Plan.
	Designed and programmed Store Budgeting system for over 750 stores nationwide.
	Provided Consolidated Financials by division by business unit.
	Financial Plan was used to obtain $20 million needed in working capital.

These systems have been developed using Microsoft Excel, Access, MS Project, and Visual Basic. Extensive systems development has been done using Microsoft products.
